The mission of the Belgrade Historical Society shall be to identify, collect and preserve documents, material objects and oral narratives concerning the history of Belgrade and surrounding areas; to perpetuate the memory of those who contributed to this history; to identify and promote the preservation and restoration of buildings of historic and architectural interest; to develop educational programs; and to encourage researchers in their study of the town’s history. Ultimately, it is the goal of the Belgrade Historical Society to house the collection in a secure, accessible space.
After moving forward with an ambitious membership campaign and busy program itinerary in 2014, the Belgrade Historical Society met for its Annual Meeting on June 18 at the Center for All Seasons. Various revisions to our by-laws were approved at that time, and a Board of Directors was created to oversee the work of the historical society. A new strategic plan is being developed which will call for expanding current activities and adding new programs.
The current Board of Directors includes the following:
- Diane Dowd & Mary Vogel, Co-Chairs
- Eric Hooglund, Secretary
- Duane Farnham, Treasurer
- Michael Barrett
- Loyce Hayslett
- Adelaide LaLime
- Sandy Lewis
- Dennis Keschl
- Margaret McMorrow
- Rodney Johnson

The Board voted to make the second Monday of each month from 6-8 pm their regular meeting time at the Belgrade Town Office, with the stipulation that other members of the Belgrade Historical Society and the general public would be welcome at any of the Board meetings. If a member has business he or she would like to include in a Board meeting’s agenda, that request should be made in advance to the Board Co-Chairs, Diane Dowd at 617-548-3569 or email@example.com & Mary Vogel, at 495-2913 or firstname.lastname@example.org
